Eeek it’s been a bit too long since the last post. Sorry about that lovely readers – real life has conspired against me. But boy, it’s been an interesting couple of weeks!

First up, congratulations must be put out to all the entrants of the Wellington 48 Hour Film Competition. Last night was the finals (a killer sell-out show at Embassy) and the winner’s were all excellent. First place went to Dog Productions with their gorgeous film, Balls and Chain. It made everyone let up a collective ‘awwwww’ and is now on it’s way to the Grand Finals. Great script writing from Simon Smith and team. Second place went to The Mammal Group for The Wake Up. The Wake Up was definitely a crowd pleased, opening with a So So Modern track and closing with an epic song by someone I don’t know – but I’m hoping someone can enlighten me. It doesn’t hurt matters that the film was made, acted in, produced etc by some of the most beautiful people in Wellington. Seriously, if I hadn’t seen them accept awards (granted, from the back of the theatre), I wouldn’t think they existed. Third place to the Timelanders which was a fun movie that reminded me of Hot Roda little bit. Good times all round.

Anyway, on with things that YOU can go to this week.

It is of course Comedy Fest season. I know tickets aren’t always cheap BUT you can get 2-4-1 deals at their booth most days. Which means a $25.00 show is actually only $12.50 if you split it with someone you like. One tip: comedy as a first date is rife with problems. Comedians have a way of zeroing in on new ‘couples’ and as one person found out this week, sometimes the lady doesn’t like being picked on in front of the San Fran crowd. Doh. Top picks: El Jaguar’s Variety Show, TJ McDonald, and Josie Long. And The Comediettes.

AND it’s NZ Music Month. You know the drill, go see stuff.

Ok, so life should be a bit back to normal so you can expect to see something every week from now on. If YOU have suggestions on things you’d like to see, email us or comment and we’ll go check it out.

Have a choice week people!
