Cockrockdisco – too sharp for its own good really. They play it straight and crooked at the same time, Jason Forrest at the helm with disgruntled glowsticks flailing (if you saw TIMEBALL at the TKS Ultimate Reality party, the Sweet Child o’ Mine and Sheryl Crow tracks are a couple of his bits of .mp3 fun). Cockrockdisco releases latest albums right there on their site for free, so it’s listen first, buy later (maybe, if you feel like it). Either way, it’s refreshing to see a label not being paranoid about a listener’s decision to buy or not buy the product and, whether simply clever marketing ploy or genuine altruism, I’ve bought more from cockrock than anyone else the past couple of years (could have something to do with finally having a day job but meh – I like to think it’s more than that).
