Apparently, combining all your favourite 60’s pop sounds that’ve passed under the gaze of ‘lo-fi’ into 3 minutes is really, really easy. Cassie from Vivian Girls (the blonde one) joins up with one of the bros from Woods to jam out some feelgood vibes under the moniker The Babies, and it’s exactly what they’ve conjured up here on Meet Me In The City. The vocals have the carefree ear-to-ear grin vibes of Nodzzz (Kevin Morby, the ‘Woods bro’, sings), while Cassie backs it up with her typical girl-pop harmonies. It’s the summer jam that Vivian Girls didn’t write because they’re too busy rocking out all over their riff-blastin’ and desparately urgent Everything Goes Wrong, and the vocals of Morby do the call to arms/ to party / to drive around the sunny streets absolute justice. Poppin fresh.
